Shark Profiles: Seeking a Different Type of Green

Adam Babica is currently in his first semester as a graduate student at HPU majoring in sustainable development. This is just one of many steps in pursuing his ultimate goal of becoming a practicing environmental law attorney.

Babica has always had a passion for the environment and helping others in his community. He always knew he wanted to be an environmental activist and an attorney since high school.

“I am looking to serve others… something that gives me personal satisfaction. I want to make a positive difference in my community, my country, and the world.”

Not coming from the financial means to pay for his college and future law school, he made the decision to enlist in the United States Navy. He explained, that for him, joining the Navy was the best decision he could make because he would be able to serve his country and earn the benefit of having his college paid for once he fulfilled his service contract.

He is now a little more than half way, but his path is not always easy. He is currently working full-time as a legal assistant, carrying a full-time course load, and still serves part-time in the Navy reserves.

When asked if he can give any advise to other students that may also have a full work load, he explains, “learn strategic time management in order to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Also, learn to reach out for help when you need it. Having a support system like family, or friends is crucial to personal, academic, and professional success.”
