CAB bonds at annual retreat

On Oct. 10, it was a warm and sunny day as we drove to Camp Mokule‘ia, where we are going to have the Campus Activity Board (CAB) retreat.

When we got to the north shore and saw the camp was right on the beach, I knew it would be a fun and productive weekend.

The three-day retreat at Camp Mokule‘ia was one of the best camps I’ve been to.

We prepared to do team-building activities and some budgeting work. The team-building activities were very interesting and helped us to think out of the box. One of the activities was called the “whale board.”

The mission was to get everyone on a balance board at once. We all had to help out to balance the board without it touching the ground. Plus, while we were on the board, we had to move around so we were facing the opposite side. It was hard at first since we had to balance the board, which wasn’t small, but we did it. Once we all got on the board, the program supervisor asked us to get down from the board — that must have been interesting to watch.

The retreat was a great way to get to know the other CAB members. The retreat taught me that communicating effectively is a good way to solve most of the problems within a group of people.

We also got to learn more about who we are through a personality quiz. It helped us better understand how we learn and communicate best while working with other people.

We also had a budgeting session where we planned events and brainstormed for the 2013-2014 school year.

I think students are going to enjoy the events we are planning. You know why? First of all, they will be interesting, second, they are free for HPU students, and third there will be free food for most of the events.

Did I mention free admission and free food for HPU students?

So, now do you want to know what activities we prepared for you?

Like our Facebook page and we will keep you updated with HPU CAB events.

You can also share your unique and creative ideas with us at out meetings. Join us every Thursdays at 2 p.m. at the SGA Office in Sharky’s Cove.

Look forward to see you guys there!
