Men’s Golf Battles Conditions at Palmer

The Hawai’i Pacific Men’s Golf Team competed in day two of the Oahu Tri-Match hosted by BYU Hawai’i. Today’s portion of the competition took place on Turtle Bay Resort’s Arnold Palmer Course, with a par 72, and proved difficult for the entire field with high wins and hot tempetures.  
 
The Sharks were led once again by the talents of Jaime Waltmire who shot a 77 on the day, which tied for the third best score. The 77 put Waltmire at a collective 148, good for fifth overall in the tournament. Fellow Shark Alec Fourie helped the attack shooting an 82 on the day and posting a 156 overall, second best on the team. The HPU team was rounded out by Zack Kwan who shot an 84 (162 overall), Kevin Goldstein with an 86 (161 overall), and Zach Coz who scored an 89 (176 overall). The Shark golfers ended the day with a 329 for the two rounds, putting their overall score at 627 and in third place.
 
Chaminade shot a 310 on the day, bringing the Silverswords’ score to 605 and good for second place. BYU-H ended the tournament with a collective 577 over the two day period. BYU-H was led today by Inoka Kahawaii who shot a field-leading 71, besting the rest of the players with a 141 over the two days.
 
The Sharks’ next match is on October at 9:06 a.m. at Olomana Golf Links, as they compete in another Oahu Tri-Match this time hosted by Chaminade University.
