Recca, Culpepper, and Doerfler Selected as All-PacWest for Women’s Volleyball

wvb1The Hawai’i Pacific University Women’s Volleyball team had three players recently selected to the All-PacWest Team.

Sophomore Pomai Recca was awarded third team honors. While junior Elizabeth Culpepper and senior Haley Doerfler were selected as honorable mentions.

The Waimanalo native Recca, ranked fifth in the PacWest with a 3.61 kills per set. She was also good for a .205 hitting percentage on the year and led the Sharks with 386 kills. She also recorded 323 digs on the season, making her the team’s lone 300/300 player. Recca is now two for two in appointments to the All-PacWest Team.

Culpepper recorded 327 kills on the season which placed her second on the team, and 10th in the PacWest. Culpepper averaged 3.06 kills per set and was third on the team with 49 total blocks. It is the second time in the last two seasons that she made the All-PacWest squad.

Senior Doerfler earned her third all-league award in her career. The Washington native led the team in hitting percentage (.291) for the third consecutive year and was ranked ninth in the PacWest. She also led the team in total blocks (101) for the fourth consecutive year while finishing seventh in the PacWest. She finished the season with 208 kills averaging just under two kills per set.

The Sharks finished with a 15-11 record (13-7 in the PacWest) good for fifth in the conference. HPU now turns to the spring conditioning season that begins in January.
