Chaplain’s Corner: Wrapping Up the Semester

By Rev. Dale Burke. December 3, 2015 - 9:25 pm

Nativity_tree2011You made it! It’s all downhill from here! The semester is rapidly spinning to a close and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. As finals approach, I’m sure many of you feel like you are running on empty, having been overstretched by finishing up projects, term papers, and reports. Don’t panic! This is a normal reaction that strikes everyone.

Keep up the good fight and look your obstacles right in the eye. Our strength comes when we face our challenges. Don’t run from them. Apply the Nike slogan, “Just do it.” Taking one small bite at a time out of your long list of responsibilities pays great dividends in completing all your work and responsibilities.

Following finals, the Christmas season will be upon us. Many of you will be going home and sharing the holiday with friends and family and taking a break from the rigors of education. Enjoy the change of pace and I pray that the Christmas spirit of peace and love, stemming from God’s gift to the world of the Christ child, will fill all of our hearts.

In the process, may we find solutions to the problems of war, climate change, and refugees on our planet so that we can all live in peace and security. Keep in your hearts the needs of all migrating to find a better life and may we all be filled with the Christmas gift of generosity and hope! Happy Holidays!
